The Fundamental Checklist for Product Images on Amazon

Product images may be the single most important component of your detail page on Amazon.  Images dictate whether a customer will click on your product in search results, provide shoppers with a clear understanding of your product & its functionality, and strengthen your ability to drive conversion.

As you invest time & resources into the creation of product visuals, the checklist below is an essential resource to maximize your products potential on Amazon.

  • Have high-resolution, professional photos taken of your product. Use various angles and have a minimum resolution of 1600x1600 pixels.

  • Ensure that your main image takes up 85% of white space, contains only the product, has no additional text or imagery, and is on a white background.

  • Develop images that display your product used in real-life settings, such as in the home, outdoors, at the gym, etc

  • Create infographics or illustrations that highlight the key product features and benefits to your customers.

  • Images of your product being used by satisfied customers.

  • Generate a comparison image to showcase your product side-by-side with competitor or generic product details (remove any competitor branding).

  • Make dynamic & engaging product videos that educate your customers on product application and highlight key selling features.

  • Take lifestyle images that showcase your product(s) and how they can improve the customers lifestyle, incorporating people of diverse backgrounds.

  • Incorporate your brand style guide into infographics, lifestyle images, and product video.

  • Generate images of your product alongside complimentary products or accessories.

  • Use multi-pack images to demonstrate different product sizes or variations.

  • Consider creating 360˚ product spins to enhance customer understanding and provide a detailed view of the product.

  • Plan your visuals to optimized for mobile shoppers – images with small text and details may be unreadable on phones and tablets.
